Ergonomics is the application of human biological science related to engineering science between the workers and their environment. It was first introduced in Malaysia by the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) on December 1, 1992. This study was conducted to discover the knowledge of ergonomics among the University Technology of MARA, Penang (UiTMCPP) support staff and their awareness of applying it at the workplace. A descriptive research method was used in which questionnaires were distributed to 60 UiTMCPP support staff who work in laboratories, workshops, and kitchens. Data collected was analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 15.0 to obtain the mean values, standard deviation, frequency and percentage. The results showed that their level of ergonomics knowledge was moderate with an average mean and standard deviation of 3.21 and 0.95 respectively. On the other hand, their level of awareness on the benefits of practicing ergonomics at workplace was high with an average mean and standard deviation of 3.94 and 0.90. The results clearly indicate that UiTMCPP support staff is knowledgeable on ergonomics and well-aware of its importance at the workplace. Therefore, the top management should play a role to ensure the level of ergonomics at the workplace is further enhanced.
