Jurnal penterjemah 1987-2003: wajah penterjemahan Malaysia
Roosfa Hashim1.
In academia, stories of struggling journals are legion. This paper examines the features of Jurnal Penterjemah and some of its challenges to estabilish itself as a reputable publication in its field. All eight issues of the journal—published from 1987 to 2003—were reviewed for the purpose of this study, and the findings reveal obvious shortcomings, including failure to publish on time and negligence of standard practices in journal publishing. The paper closes with a number of proposals which could help Jurnal Penterjemah reinvent itself into a creditable publication, for both scholars and practitioners of translation.
