A thorough and comprehensive site investigation is an essential preliminary to the design and construction of all civil engineering and building projects. Inadequate site investigation has been identified as one of the key factors resulting in projects' late completion and escalating cost, and is gaining serious attention from professional organizations worldwide. A questionnaire survey has been conducted to in vestigate the actual status of current site in vestigation practice in Malaysia, and justify how true the accusation laid on them. A total of35 civil engineering consulting firms in a state in Malaysia were visited, and 50 questionnaires were administered in the study. Findings for the selected six questions on the aspects of planning and implementation ofsite investigation works were presented and discussed. Overall, the survey revealed that cllrrent site investigation practices in the studied area are fairly poor, and not properly and adequately planned/procured/supervised/ executed.
