Issues and challenges in qualitative inquiry: novice researchers’ experiences

This paper sets to explore the experiences of novice qualitative researchers at one higher learning institution. It focuses on three main phases underwent by these novice qualitative researchers, namely the prior preparation phase, the on-going phase, and finally their personal reflection phase in conducting qualitative inquiry. Through the interviews conducted with the participants of the study, it is hoped that issues, problems and challenges in conducting qualitative inquiry would be highlighted. In addition, some suggestions and advice for future qualitative researchers will be provided.
