MALAYSIAN JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING (MJCE) is an international peer-reviewed journal published triannually by the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). It has been published since 1989 and is regarded as the longest-running scientific journal for Civil Engineering discipline in Malaysia. The journal publishes original papers, reviews, short notes, technical notes, and commentaries dealing with all aspects of Civil Engineering disciplines.
The aim of the journal is to provide alternative venue for promoting and disseminating new knowledge and research findings of high scientific standard among engineers, academicians, researchers, policy makers and other relevant professionals. The journal covers all aspects of civil engineering field which include structures, materials, construction management and IT, water supply and resources, hydraulics and hydrology, transportation and highways, geotechnique and soil mechanics, environmental engineering, engineering education and reliability engineering.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
GUIDES TO AUTHORS
Aims and Scope: All manuscript submissions to the MJCE should be in a Word ".doc" file or in a Word-compatible file with top, bottom, left and right margins set to one inch, Times New Roman 12 point font, and double spaced. The body of the paper, title page, references, tables, figures, and author notes should all be contained in a single file. The editors will remove personal and institutional identifiers before circulating the manuscript for blind review. Articles submitted will be reviewed and accepted on the understanding that they have not been published elsewhere. The length of articles should be between 3,000 and 6,000 words or approximately 7-15 printed pages (final version). The manuscripts should be written in English or Bahasa Melayu. Submission of review paper is only by invitation.
Manuscripts submitted to the MJCE should not be currently under review by another Journal or been made available in print (e.g., working paper series) or on the Internet. One copy of the manuscript should be sent as an e-mail attachment to MJCE@utm.my in one Microsoft Word (or Word-compatible) file.
Type of fonts: All texts, drawing, graph must be written using Times New Roman.
Language: Follow the spelling of the Oxford English Dictionary.
Paper title: The title should be brief (SMALL CAPITAL bold font 14).

Abstract: Written in English or Bahasa Melayu. The abstract must be translated to English if paper is written in Bahasa Melayu (font 10).
Abstract: It should be a single paragraph of about 150 words.
       Keywords: Written in English or Bahasa Melayu up to 5 keywords. The keywords must be translated to English if paper is written in Bahasa Melayu (font 10 & Italic font 10).
Keywords: Roundabout; Circulating Flow; Entry Flow.
Body text: The main headings of the text should be bold and numbered in title case letterings while the sub-headings should be italicised and numbered (bold font 12 for main-heading and italic font 12 for sub-heading)

Units: All units and abbreviations of dimensions should conform to SI standards.
Tables and Figures: Tables and figures should be incorporated in the text. Caption should be written above the table and at the bottom for figures (font 10). All illustrations and photographs must be numbered consecutively as it appears in the text and accompanied with appropriate captions below them.
References: References should be cited in the text according to Harvard referencing style as follows: "Veneklaas and Van (1990) found...", or "(Brooks et al. 1991)". References should be listed in alphabetical order, on separate sheets from the text. In the list of References, the titles of periodicals should be given in full, while for books should state the title, place of publication, name of publisher, and indication of edition.
