ALAM CIPTA, International Journal of Sustainable Tropical Design Research and Practice aims to promote sustainable design through the advancement of conceptual, scientific and applied knowledge in the field of built environment and design. Built environment and design field is increasing relevant and sought after as many problems require creative and innovative solutions. Creative design process which is crucial for built environment and design disciplines is certainly imperative as it able designers to integrate broad range of knowledge to solve certain issues. Nevertheless, without the advancement of knowledge in the built environment and design field, it is doubtful that built environment and design disciplines can make significant impacts to the human wellbeing, environmental quality and economic development. Therefore, ALAM CIPTA provides a platform to all interested party on built environment and design disciplines to share your knowledge, though and criticism for the betterment of the people, environment and eventually our economy.

AUTHOR'S GUIDELINE

Abstract

ALAM CIPTA seeks unpublished articles on research and practice matters in the field of sustainable tropical design. Interested authors are invited to submit their full manuscripts in the format stipulated in these guidelines. The guidelines include complete descriptions of the fonts, spacing, and related information for producing the manuscripts. Please follow them. All manuscripts must be in British or American English. Abstracts must not exceed 170 words.

1. INTRODUCTION

ALAM CIPTA seeks unpublished articles on research and practice matters in the field of sustainable tropical design. Interested authors are invited to submit articles in the following areas:

Environmental Design Behaviour. Theory and applications related to the environment behavior in the natural and built environments. Research and practice in this area include, but are not limited to, human-environment and human-product interactions (such as behavioural studies of design organization and processes), human-computer interactions, perception and emotion studies, rural and urban social impacts of design, heritage conservation, and visual resource assessment and management in all product development disciplines. Environmental Design Technologies and Systems. Theory and applications related to advanced technologies and systems in promoting sustainable products and their green development. This topic concentrates on, but is not limited to, improving methodologies and tools for renewable energy resources, energy efficiency products and processes, passive design, use of advanced and alternative materials and use of sustainable technologies. Articles shall contribute towards improving the life cycle cost of any product development through better-designed technologies and systems with the ultimate goal of creating harmony between nature and the built-environment.

Environmental Design Integration. Theory and application related to research and practice activities throughout the product development lifecycle with emphasis on the design phases that influence implementation and post-operational usage. They include, but are not limited to, multi- and trans-disciplinary research that integrates or affects multiple sustainability components. These could be social, economic and environmental. They include, but are not limited to, developing theories and applications for computer aided collaborative design, virtual reality, evolutionary design, etc.

2. SUBMISSION FORMAT

Manuscripts should be formatted on an A4 size paper. All pages should have 1.0 inch (2.5 cm) margins at all edges. All text (main body, references, titles) are aligned left using Times New Roman font 12 with 1 1/2 line spacing.

2.1 Author Information

The first page of the article only displays the main title and the contact information of all co-authors. Author’s affiliations are aligned left including name (in capital letters), address, telephone, fax and email. Please identify the contact person.

2.2 Main text

The main text is in the second page of the article. It has only the title with no author identification followed by the abstract and keywords. Number the main sections in sequential order and capitalize the title of each major section. Leave one line spacing between paragraphs. Insert one line spacing before and after a title and sub-title.

2.3 Figures and tables

Capitalise the first letter of all words in table title. Capitalise only the first letter of the first word of each figure caption. Table titles are to be centered above the tables. Figure captions are to be centered and below the figures. Figures and tables must be numbered separately, and inserted in the text (see Table 1/Figure 1 below). Separate JPEG files will be requested when the manuscripts is accepted for publication.

2.4 Footnotes

Try to avoid using footnotes altogether and include necessary peripheral observations in the text (within parentheses, if you prefer, as in this sentence).

2.5 Acknowledgements

Please acknowledge relevant contributions from others for the followings: if the work was a sponsored effort, part of a dissertation, has been presented at academia forums or conferences, any persons who have directly or indirectly assist you in the preparation of this article, etc.

2.6 References

Please use the latest American Psychological Association style for citation format in the text and listed references at the end of your article.
3. REVIEW PRODECURE

Upon receipt of the full manuscript, an acceptance notification will be given. An editorial review to determine the manuscript’s fit with the journal’s themes will be conducted. If approved, the author will be informed of its acceptance for a review process. Two reviewers will then conduct a blind review of the manuscript and the result will be given within one month. The manuscript will either be accepted as is, accepted with modifications, or rejected. The Editor-in-Chief holds the final acceptance of any article.

4. COPYRIGHT FORM

If your manuscript is accepted, you must complete and sign the ALAM CIPTA copyright release and warranty form and fax it to +603-8948 0017. We must have this form before your paper can be published.

5. SUBMISSION SCHEDULE

Submission is open all year long.

6. COMPLIMENTARY ISSUES

Authors of published articles will receive two complimentary copies of the published issue.

7. SUBMITTING YOUR MANUSCRIPT

Please follow this link to submit your manuscript online.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
