The Pertanika Journal of Scholarly Research Reviews is the first postgraduate journal of Universiti Putra Malaysia, and primarily features review articles or summaries of students’ current state of research. These review articles consist of detailed explorations of the available literature in any fields of study. In compiling these review articles, students will be better able to acquire the knowledge and the skills necessary for both the completion of their postgraduate theses, and their future careers as researchers and educators. PJSRR was conceived in response to the School of Graduate Studies’ efforts to provide postgraduate students with a space to publish their research and hone their research skills. In line with UPM being granted Research University status, publishing is now a prerequisite for the successful completion of students’ Master’s and PhD degrees. As such, it is vital that postgraduate students better understand the processes involved in writing and publishing research articles. The review articles published in PJSRR will enable students to achieve this, as it will alert them to the latest developments in their respective fields.

PJSRR is published in April, August and December each year, in collaboration with UPM’s Pertanika journal. All review articles are open access and available online, either as standalone PDFs, or as complete issues. Click on Archive to view the database, which contains all current and past issues of PJSRR. Authors who are interested to publish in PJSRR are advised to also view the call for papers and submissions guidelines before submitting their manuscripts to the Editorial Board.

The Editorial Board of PJSRR consists of academicians from UPM and other national and international institutions of higher learning, from a wide variety of fields, encompassing agriculture, arts and humanities, engineering, and science and technology.

All submissions must be under 5,000 words in length, and be accompanied by an abstract not exceeding 250 words, and up to six (6) keywords. Note that PJSRR only accepts review articles written in English; full research papers will not be accepted for publication. Submissions must conform to the house style of PJSRR as outlined in the Style Guide, and must include the name(s), faculty affiliation(s), and email(s) of each author, and one corresponding author.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

File:

We aim to make submissions to the Pertanika Journal of Scholarly Research Reviews as simple as possible. Authors are not required to login to the PJSRR site, and are only required to email their manuscripts in MS Word format (.doc, .docx) to pjsrr@upm.edu.my, with ‘Manuscript Submission’ in the subject field.

However, authors are encouraged to read the Style Guide before submitting their manuscripts to PJSRR. The journal will only accept submissions that accord to the house style detailed in the Style Guide. Given that the editors of PJSRR do not carry out proofreading or formatting services, and that submitted manuscripts with major spelling and grammatical errors will be rejected outright, authors are advised to seek the services of professional editors prior to submission.

Once a manuscript has been submitted, a confirmation email will be sent within two or three days from the Administrator, which indicates that it has been sent to the relevant member of the Editorial Board for evaluation. A Notice of Publication will be issued if said editor approves the publication of the submitted manuscript. The editors’ decisions on publication are final, and no appeals will be entertained by PJSRR.
